AGM UPDATES

RUGBY QUEBEC AGM UPDATE

It was a productive day yesterday at Rugby Quebec's AGM. I would like to congratulate all of our players who made an impact representing SABRFC at the Elite level for Rugby Quebec and Canada. It was definitely apparent how many truly elite players we have in our club! A MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS to Megan Allard, who received Rugby Quebec's Junior female 7s player of the year! Going to an event that recognizes so many of our amazing players could not make me more proud!

SAINT's director, Margaret Dudley-Thompson, Treasurer Jean-Marie Fontaine and myself were able to spend the day exploring opportunities and representing the needs of YOUR club. Specifically, Marge made a huge contribution by enthusiastically proposing (and seconding) several motions at the AGM. Further, she was able to represent us at the junior LPR and volunteer meetings. JM made a massive contribution with his experience and excellent questions at the AGM. He also attended the coach and referee development meetings noting some exciting opportunities we can take advantage of this season. Martial Lagain supported the club throughout the event in his new role as Regional Development Agent for Rugby Quebec. Finally, a great trio of men's players (Marc Belvedere, Mitch Spooner & Charles Debove) added strength and support when they rolled into the senior LPR meeting.

Highlights from the day included, as SAINT's director Margaret Thompson-Dudley noted, that regardless of a drop in registration numbers for 2022, we continue to top the list with the BIGGEST CLUB IN QUEBEC!! Another highlight included the discussions around potential opportunities for funding support and two exciting pilot projects for coach and referee mentoring. Although some meetings proved to be a bit of a challenge, I am happy to share that we continue to be involved in the discussions around the 2023 senior LPR season. For now, I can share that the women's super league will consist of 5 teams and involve more travel close to home! The senior men's structure remains to be finalized, and I look forward to more discussions with Rugby Quebec very soon. I will update everyone as soon as the league structure and schedule are finalized! For now, get out to indoor training or CrossFit with Nico and get ready for the season!
