SABRFC Return 2 Rugby Update #1

Hello TEAM,

It is terrific to see so many of you joining zoom training sessions, running/walking for the club in the Strava challenge (#1 for two weeks straight baby!) and connecting with teammates. It truly demonstrates just how much we are ONECLUB!

In light of recent announcements from the Quebec government indicating the return to play for some sports, it is essential that we not jump into anything too quickly - even though I KNOW WE WANT TO! Although this is certainly encouraging news, we have to be clear that things have not changed for us just yet.

It is essential that, as a club, we represent the values of rugby including integrity, passion, solidarity, discipline and respect by following the most current guidelines from the FRQ listed below.

The health and well-being of our members continues to be our number one priority. Thus, we have created a "return to play task force" that will be responsible for working with Rugby Canada, the FRQ, the Quebec government and other high-performance sport partners (OTP, COC, CPC) in order to develop and roll out a return to play protocol.

We should have more information from the FRQ on Monday which will be discussed and communicated as soon as we can. Rest assured that as the situation evolves, we will continue to learn and adapt our return to play protocols accordingly so that decisions are made to best protect our members. We will continue to update everyone as we progress through this process, but if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly at sabrfc.president@gmail.com.

Sincerely,

Sommer Christie
