John Abbott College Lands Synthetic Turf Field

Our very own Geoff Kelley (of Tess Kelley fame...) had the pleasure in taking part in an official announcement whereby the Federal Government, the JAC Student Union and the College, have agreed to fund a new synthetic turf sports field on the campus, located in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue.

The investment is a big one, but should pay dividends as the College will likely attract a lot of attention to what is already a storied and uber-successful sports program.

It is likely up and coming SAB rugby players being developed in the JAC system will play on this field, set for completion in November 2010. Locals are also said to be beneficiaries of the installation as local soccer teams and other organizations will get a crack at occupying the field outside of the school year.

A total of 3 million dollars is slated for the project and will create some jobs for ramen-noodle eating students and locals alike, as the installation process is likely quite laborious.
