Ste-Annes RFC Curling Day is A Huge Success

Family and friends bring total participation to over 70

Gill Florence deserves much of the credit for this hugely successful event. Once again she organized  a terrific fund raising day. The genius is in organizing such an event so that no one minds spending a little extra money because it's so enjoyable and so much fun. Of course, the fact that her mother  makes the best damn roast beef and Yorkshire pudding helps a bit too.

It also helped that the participants really got into the swing of things.  This year was the first time we had costumed teams and there was even some pretty good curling.

More Club members, friends and family made the effort to arrive right at 2:00 p.mto start the tournament, and there was still a good crowd at the Curling Club bar around 10:30 at night.

The winning team was Flo's, but everyone enjoyed as much curling as they could handle.

New club members Tommo and Sarah added a stir of excitement to the occasion, and if
this Curling event is any indication of what we can expect in the coming season, then we should be in for a banner season.

Just a quick note as an epilogue. Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue Rugby Club's AGM was on Sunday 19th April 2009, and the  Club dues for 2009 have been set at $ 240.00. Please try to sign up and pay your dues as soon as possible to  ensure that the Club can register three men's teams. The Federation is  cracking down on this aspect of administration, and Club teams which do not have 20 registered players as of 1st May 2009, will not be allowed to enter the the FRQ leagues.

This is  situation is especially important for our Ste-Anne's club. We rarely have much trouble fielding three teams, but it has been notoriously difficult to persuade everyone to register and pay their dues.

Tuesday is the first official outdoor practice for Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue RFC and all the  coaches should be there. Try to make it out (rain or shine) and there will be a BBQ to follow, featuring Barrington Beef at Stone's.
